What is Wetback?

Did you know that of the average household’s power bill, 47% is spent on hot water? A chilling thought indeed.

Wetback is a system that uses your Magnum wood-burning fire to heat the hot water in your home. How much of your needs this meets will be determined by the size of your household and the demand for hot water. Before reading on, please note that wetback systems are only permitted in rural areas. If your property has more than two hectares of land, you are able to install a wetback system.

The wetback system is an additional fitting that would be installed by a qualified installer, usually a plumber. It consists of a metal container which houses a series of coiled pipes. This container sits inside the wood-burner itself and water is heated as it passes through the pipes.

Your hot water tank needs to be higher than the wood-burner and the closer they are - the better. For more details, please contact your local retailer (see Store Locater)
