Convection vs. Radiation

The first law of Thermodynamics states:

“Energy can never be created nor destroyed, only altered in form”

What does this mean to you?
Unfortunately it means that the heat produced from your home’s heating will eventually escape.

On the brightside, it also means we have choices. These choices can determine how we heat and insulate our homes.

Radiating heat from a source blasts heat in all and every direction, it can be argued this is an inefficient way to heat a living space. Convection, on the other hand, heats up the air above and around a heat source and this warm air rises. This creates a circular motion, or current, in your lounge that keeps the temperature consistent.

That’s why at Crighton we design and produce efficient wood-burning fires that work on the principle of convecting heat throughout your chosen space.
